Scissors Lift Training Course
A blog site of our Principal Consultant, Major Frank TK Tan, PMP (Perak), PJK (Selangor), on his thoughts and years of understanding in the world of Occupational Safety and Health.
A scissor lift is easily distinguishable by its signature criss-crossing “scissor” pattern. Also known as a pantograph, the scissor mechanism is what enables the upwards motion that elevates the platform. Depending on the power system configuration, the lift can be powered by either hydraulic, pneumatic or mechanical means. Scissor lifts are largely used in industrial and manufacturing settings. With a larger platform, it allows multiple workers to work at that particular elevated level.
Regardless, a scissor lift is still heavy industrial equipment. Therefore, having the proper knowledge and skills to operate it is very important to the safety of both operators and co-workers. At ISO Group, we provide an extensive scissor lift training course for new and existing operators. Our training programme is designed to be a comprehensive course that allows operators to acquire or reinforce the necessary skills for the safe operation of scissor lifts.
Our comprehensive scissor lift training course uses a dual approach that focuses on both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Our theory training includes basic knowledge such as risk assessment, safety requirements, scissor lift functions, pre- and post-start inspection, emergency controls and more. These are essential knowledge that every competent operator should know so that he or she is able to operate the equipment safely.
With knowledge, we understand the need for practical applications. Our practical training and assessment allow operators to have hands-on experience in handling the actual equipment. Our assessment makes sure that they are operating it according to our best safety practices.
Regardless of equipment type, safety will always be our number one priority here at ISO Group. With a team of experienced and dedicated trainers, we want to make sure that each worker is able to go home safely after work every day.
